Ginger Loke
MBA with Distinction, University of Strathclyde, 2023
Chief Operating Officer (Acting)
Naza Properties Sdn. Bhd.
Embarking on my MBA journey has been a pivotal decision, enriching my career trajectory through enhanced knowledge transfer, leadership development, and expanded professional networks. The decision to pursue this qualification stems from a desire to continually evolve and prepare for senior leadership roles in the dynamic realm of real estate management.
If I could rewind time, I would have pursued my MBA earlier to maximize the application of newfound knowledge and create more substantial value before retirement. Despite postponing until 2018, the adage “better late than never” rings true, underscoring the enduring value of continuous learning and personal growth.
Beyond the MBA, my academic pursuit extends to a DBA, where I intend to elevate research focused on how real estate development firms respond to Net Zero initiatives. This academic path aligns seamlessly with my career aspirations, equipping me with strategic insights to navigate future industry challenges.
Choosing to pursue an MBA was driven by a strategic intent to refine skills in strategic thinking, financial acumen, organizational behavior, and leadership. Through rigorous coursework, case studies, and real-world projects, I honed decision-making prowess and analytical capabilities. Moreover, networking opportunities and exposure to diverse perspectives have fortified my ability to lead teams adeptly within complex business landscapes.
Opting for a prestigious, triple-accredited institution like Strathclyde affirmed my commitment to quality education and aligned seamlessly with my career ambitions. This choice ensured a robust learning experience, blending theoretical knowledge with practical application to meet evolving industry demands.
Commencing my MBA journey in 2018 coincided with my appointment as head of investment properties, managing assets nearing RM2 billion. This timing proved opportune, offering a focused pathway to deepen expertise while simultaneously managing professional responsibilities. Adjusting to the dual demands of work and study required meticulous time management, clear study goals, and leveraging professional experience to enrich academic pursuits.
Choosing a part-time study mode facilitated a seamless integration of real-time learning into professional practice. This approach enabled immediate application of acquired knowledge, enhancing both academic and practical competencies crucial for career advancement.
Central to my MBA experience has been the opportunity to cultivate a robust professional network and acquire transformative knowledge and skills. These assets directly bolster strategic decision-making and augment my capacity for fostering sustainable growth and profitability as COO at Naza Properties Sdn. Bhd. In this capacity, I oversee operational efficiencies, drive strategic initiatives, and navigate intricate challenges within the real estate sector.
Looking forward, armed with an enriched skill set and strategic insights gained from my MBA, I am poised to assume greater leadership responsibilities within the real estate industry. My objective is to spearhead innovative initiatives that propel organizational success and potentially explore entrepreneurial endeavors aligned with my expertise and passions. To aspiring postgraduate students, I advocate aligning educational pursuits with career aspirations. Choose subjects that deepen expertise in critical areas such as strategic management, finance, and leadership, ensuring they complement professional trajectories. Prioritize programs offering practical learning opportunities and industry connections to optimize academic investments and pave the way for sustained career growth and achievement.
